Trinity School has an outstanding reputation for sport and we take great pride in offering a wide range of activities and opportunities for all. We embrace recreation and excellence through all of these. We have excellent facilities on site including extensive sports fields, 2 astros, 2 sports halls, a swimming pool, 10 tennis courts, 4 squash courts, a climbing wall, a shooting range, a health and fitness suite, a strength and conditioning room as well as further fields at our Sandilands site and a brand new pavilion as a centre point of our sport.
Our pupils benefit from numerous knowledgeable and enthusiastic coaches who are experts in their field and work tirelessly to get the best out of the pupils that they coach. They promote a passion for their sport, which we hope encourages lifetime sporting commitment in those that they work with. We are proud of our considerable sporting success with our competitive teams as well as the large number of past and present pupils who have represented their county, region and country. Our coaching staff have the expertise to guide those who show promise and our High Performance Programme aims to support those who have the potential to make a career out of sport.
We play matches on Saturday’s and throughout the week, against some of the toughest schools in the country. We organise tours all over the world as part of our drive to give the students the best possible experiences and opportunities to develop in sport.
Our structured PE and Games programme endeavours to develop the whole individual promoting physical health, leadership and teamwork. In autumn our main sports are rugby for the boys and hockey for the girls, whilst in the spring term hockey is our main focus for the boys and netball for the girls. We are one of the strongest rugby and hockey schools in the country. Throughout these terms opportunities are provided to participate in numerous other activities including football, water polo, swimming, indoor hockey, rugby sevens, squash, golf, basketball, badminton, table tennis, climbing, sailing, fencing, scuba diving and archery. In the summer we switch to cricket for the boys, rounders for the girls, tennis and athletics for both, along with further opportunities in softball, horse riding, swimming and water polo.
Almost all activities are open to both boys and girls, as are the strength and conditioning sessions that we run throughout the year. All pupils have the opportunity to develop a personal training programme, with the help of vastly experienced staff, which can focus on any aspect of health and fitness that has been targeted. This is just as popular with or A team players as those who wish to gain a better understanding as part of an active lifestyle.
