All candidates will be charged a non-returnable application fee of £90 prior to sitting the entrance examinations. Late applications are permitted under special circumstances and incur an additional administration fee of £20. A deposit of £800 is payable on acceptance of a place. This will be retained in full until the pupil leaves, when it will be refunded less any balance owing to the School. Parents who fail to take up their child's place will lose their deposit.
The school fee for 2017-18 is £16,656.
There are very few costs which are not covered by the fees. These include lunches, uniform, external examination entry fees, individual music tuition, and part-cost of a small number of excursions away from school.
Fees may be paid by monthly Direct Debit.
Over half of our parents do not pay the full fee. There are two types of fee reduction available:
- Whitgift Foundation Bursaries
There are several types of scholarship award: Academic, Music, Sport, Drama, Art and Design Technology (please note that for Sixth Form entry, there is no Design Technology scholarship available)
At 10, 11 and 13+, all pupils sit the same Entrance Examination papers for their appropriate age group. There is no special or additional scholarship examination
The awards are made without regard to parental income and are worth a percentage of the school fees, up to a maximum possible 50%. The scholarship will remain throughout a pupil's school career provided he or she maintains the expected standards
Even if a Whitgift Foundation Bursary has been awarded, a scholarship may also be given
A pupil who pays reduced fees because of a Bursary may also be awarded an honorary scholarship, which can be implemented if future family income were to increase
There is no set number of scholarship awards but a sum equivalent to ten full fees is given.
Any pupil applying for admission to Trinity will automatically be considered for an academic scholarship. This applies equally to applicants for entry at 10+, 11+, 13+, Sixth Form or other ages of admission.
The scholarship award at each entry level is based on:
- Performance in the standard Entrance Examination papers.
- An interview, which may incorporate additional tests.
- For Lower School, a reference from the pupil's current school. For Sixth Form, please send your latest school report.
Music scholarships are awarded to pupils who show exceptional musical promise on at least one instrument. Most candidates are between Grade 3 and Grade 5 on their principal instrument (Grade 8 in the SIxth Form). For Lower Schoo, those who perform well enough in the entrance examination will be invited to audition in late January or early February of the year of entry. For Sixth Form, the audition will be held on the day of your entrance exam. Up to 50% remission of the school fee can be awarded. A separate application form must be completed.

For Sixth Form, applicants are assessed before the Entrance Exams. Up to 50% fee remission of the school fee can be awarded. A separate application form must be completed.
Art Scholarships / Design Technology Scholarships (DT scholarships not available for 16+ applicants).
These are awarded to pupils who show exceptional promise in one of these subjects. Pupils must have the support of a teacher at their present school and be prepared to present a portfolio or samples of their practical work (for Sixth Form, this will be needed on Entrance Exam day). Pupils are assessed or interviewed in January or early February of the year of entry (December for Sixth Form applicants). Up to 50% fee remission of the school fee can be awarded. A separate application form must be completed.
WHITGIFT FOUNDATION BURSARIES
Usually parents whose family income is less than approximately £80,000 a year (exact figures are available direct from the Whitgift Foundation) may apply for a bursary (an income-related fee reduction). There is a generous but limited annual budget for bursaries and they are awarded on the basis of performance in the entrance examinations and interviews for those who qualify in terms of their income. Successful bursary applicants may also be entitled to some remission of the deposit fee.
Bursary assessment forms should be completed before the entrance examination is taken. The Clerk to the Whitgift Foundation calculates the bursary award. A small proportion of parents may be offered a bursary smaller than the Clerk’s initial assessment. Further details of help available are also available via the following LINK to The Whitgift Foundation website.
